Does anyone have a KitchenAid food processor? How do you like it? How well does it grate...?
...cheeses? How well does it work
chopping onions? Does it actually chop them or pulverize them (I realize there is a pulse feature possibly)? I am looking for a food processor that I can use to shred cheeses easily and chop onions along with other uses for it. But I am wondering about those two functions in particular, as the older f.p.'s used to just make a mess of the food and didn't really do what they were suppose too do. Does anyone have the 7-cup size? I don't really think I want to get the 12 cup but I want a 3 cup to do smaller things. Please give me your experiences with one-pro/and-or/cons. I own a KA stand mixer so figured I would look at that brand for the fp, they seem to have really good ratings. Please give personal opinions and your thoughts about the product.
I’ve had the Kitchen Aid food processor for going on three years. In my opinion, if your willing to pay the money, it’s the way to go. They are built to last.
I have the large processor, and it actually comes with the 12 cup bowl as well as a smaller (3-cup?) bowl that can both be used with the same processor. As for grating cheeses, make sure the model you buy comes with the special disc-attachments. These separate discs are what you use to do slicing, grating, and some chopping. In my opinion, they work perfectly, and come in different size grate-holes for whatever you want to do.
I also like to use my processor to mix cookie doughs, and bread doughs, though if you have the stand mixer, I suppose you wouldn’t need it for that.
Mine also came with a juicer attachment that I don’t use very often, but works nicely.
Here are some links to the different attachments to give you a better idea. Just make sure the one you buy comes with the basics, which it should. Mine came with a special holder that keeps the two different sized metal blades, a plastic blade, the juicer, and three or four discs.
