Is there a "virtual coffee table" to share magazines?
We have a stack of magazines at work that don't get read. The idea is to digitize them or get digital copies to reduce paper waste and encourage people to read them (as well as allow people to comment on them).
Is there a digital equivalent of a coffee table that would have all the latest magazines for each magazine name on the 'table' that would allow people to look at the range, read them, indicate they've read them, and comment on them/recommend pages to people?
Thanks for your answer, however I'm looking for more a network-based area that could be used as a domain hosted application. Surface would be amazing (I already tried to suggest this to directors - they weren't having any of it) but this solution would be relatively inexpensive and would make the place a lot cleaner!
The microsoft surface is what you are looking for. Here is a commercial for it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VfpVYYQzHs . The draw backs of this is that it is expensive (some where between 10-15k) and that it is available only to business's. Have you thought about maybe writing a webpage that would be set up in the way you want it. Then just scanning the magazines into photo albums with a comments section. Kind of like how faceboook or myspace are set up. It would be a simple site to write and very easy to share over the network which would mean that you would not have to publish it.
