What kind of container do I use to calibrate a thermometer?
I'm calibrating by Ice method. I have several containers to put the ice and water in. Which one do I use to get a proper reading?
A) Paper cup
B) Styrofoam cup/bowl
C) Glass cup/bowl
D) Metal (Stainless Steel) container/pan
E) Plastic cup/bowl
F) Thermos
G) Ceramic cup/bowl
H) None of the above (If so, What?)
I tried to ask before this but didn't get a good answer.
If you intend to place the thermometer in the ice water it won't make any difference what the container is made of. However, if you plan to hold the thermometer against the outside of the container that's a different story. I would use a metal container.
